A moment to be still

A reflection from Louise Lawrenson, our Admin & Facilities Coordinator, on finding moments of stillness and peace.

Most of us feel like we're always juggling a million different things, whether it be in at home or in other situations. It's really important in the midst of all that to grab those tiny moments of peace and hold onto them.
So take a few moments to concentrate, not on all the things that you still have to do today or all the things you haven't managed to get done but instead on this precise moment.
The people around you, the sounds in the room, the way the air feels on your skin.
Take a moment to think about something good that has happened today or something that made you smile.
Think about someone who is important to you and say a silent prayer for them.
And finally think about something that is weighing you down and hand it over to God, who is able to hold all of our burdens.
Paradox blessing
May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.
May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you will work for justice, equity, and peace.
May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them and change their pain to joy.
And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world,
so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done.
Amen
