Hope Nottingham is at a significant stage of development. It’s flagship work at Hope House has developed a highly effective model as a holistic transformational community hub. It is now seeking to develop some of its smaller satellite projects using the same model, and to work in partnership with similar community hubs across Nottingham and beyond, to develop a network of neighbourhood community hubs that will empower local individuals and communities towards productive and contributory lifestyles.
Alongside this Hope’s employability programme, encapsulating work experience, mentoring and skills development, has become highly effective in helping those furthest from paid work to make progress towards employment. There is an emerging opportunity to be commissioned by larger agencies to deliver this work on their behalf, for the benefit of the most disadvantaged people in local communities around Nottingham.
To make sustained progress in these areas Hope Nottingham needs a planned approach to development and growth and needs support to design and present our employability programme to make it compatible with the requirements of commissioning organisations. In due course there will be a need to build commercial partnerships with such clients.
Alongside this there is a need to develop and implement a wider funding strategy, to maximise income from diverse sources. There will also be a need to develop and strengthen policies and procedures, to support organisational growth and satisfy the requirements of funders and clients.
The role will include the following tasks:-
- Take a lead to develop and implement a Business Development Plan with timed and measurable objectives.
In collaboration with the Hope staff team, trustees and key volunteers. We also expect to be able to acquire free consultancy support through supportive local businesses and through Business in the Community.
The Plan will incorporate:-
- Lead on Funding Strategy development and implementation.
This will encapsulate all aspects of funding, including grants, individual and community donors, business support and commissioned work and may include development of communications and marketing strategies
- Development of framework and infrastructure for Employability programme to prepare it for commissioned contracts
This will involve working with our employability team to support them in developing support documentation and procedures and formalisation of training programmes to satisfy the requirements of commissioning clients.
- Development and strengthening of support policies and procedures.
To ensure that the organisation is sufficiently robust for sustained growth and development and to satisfy the requirements of funders and commissioning organisations.
As the Business Development Plan is designed and implemented it is expected that the role will focus more on obtaining commissioned employability work and supporting that continued development, with the role becoming self-funded through commissioned work.

Hope this finds you in good health. We’re now on the countdown to the next National Trussell Trust collection days with Tesco stores from 9am-5pm on Thursday 30th Nov, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd December. We need your support for an hour to ask the public in store to help us fill up our stores so that we can feed the hungry with generosity and compassion at local foodbanks in the busy run up to Christmas.
If you’d like to help at the BEESTON or TOTON store, please contact Sue Hillier (Volunteer Manager) at Hope Nottingham with your preferred date and time on 0303 040 1110 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’d like to help at the CARLTON store, please contact Peter Murphy on 07473779096 or via email: email@example.com. Please note we are covering Thurs 1-5pm, Fri 1-5pm, and Sat 9am-1pm only.
We will be sorting the donations in a local Church to our Beeston base on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th December (likely to be between 10.30-3 at the latest). Do let me know if you’d prefer to help with this instead.
Please spread the word amongst your family and friends – all are welcome to help J.
Thank you so much!!
Please be aware the Foodbank Feast, due to happen on Sat 18th Nov, has now been postponed due to insufficient ticket sales. We will plan a new date for the Spring 2018.
Our Lent Appeal appeal raised over £700!! From dozens of people giving just 40p or more per day for days. What may seem like a small amount adds up to much more when lots of people contribute.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
OVER £3000 was raised by The Nottingham Symphony Orchestra for Hope Nottingham and the Childrens’ Society at a Family Charity concert on Sunday 2nd April 2017 at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.
The programme features the conducting debut of 11 year old Matthew Smith, lots of music the family will enjoy and the Sandra Taylor School of Dance.
THANK YOU TO THE ORCHESTRA AND ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED THE CONCERT
Hope Nottingham is very pleased to be working with the Trussell Trust who provide an excellent sustainable model for developing local foodbanks.
